I was born at the University Teaching Hospital, in Lusaka, Zambia. My parents ( both from the northeastern US,) were drought relief workers and were living in Kafue, Zambia. I lived in Kenya, most of my early memories are from that country. My parents and I lived at a camp on the escarpment above the Maasai Mara as well as a rental in Nairobi. When I was seven I moved back to New Hampshire, USA.
As well as moving back to the US another big thing happened when I turned seven! I became interested in the sport of falconry. When my mother brought me a book back from the UAE. A decade later I am now an Apprentice falconer!
My many interest other than falconry are the writings of Gerald Durrell, Fly fishing & fly tying, the study of binomial nomenclature, and Leviticus 11.
Cinereous the name of the blog is after my favorite old world vulture.
